Lisini is among Montalcino`s most respected estates. They are also one of the most traditionalist, the family have a history that goes back to the time of the Medicis; they are proud to say they are the last of the region`s founding families still making wine here.

Lisini’s vineyards are located between Sant’Angelo in Colle and Castelnuovo dell’Abate on the inner edge of the Sesta area and are cleansed by the constant breeze from the Tuscan coast. Low yielding old vine Sangiovese together with stony soils with a significant proportion of limestone and the altitude of over 300 metres help to maintain the freshness of the wines. Ludovica Lisini is proud to say they have never owned a barrique, but have always depended on traditional long fermentations and large botti.

Today the Lisini estate is considered an historic reference point for the traditional production of Brunello di Montalcino. In the best harvests, only 3,000 cases of Brunello are made but, more often, a lot less, 2,500 in 2019.  The 2019 is a true classic in the making.
