We are honoured to be one of the few merchants with an allocation from this tiny jewel of a domaine.

This vintage the wines show their typical beautiful feminine character that the domaine is known for.

The entry-level wines will delight you, do not be fooled by their “lowly” appellations.

The top wines always age supremely well and have significant upside.

This year also sees the return of Anne’s popular and great value Crémant de Bourgogne, with a “Black” and a “White” version (depending on if you prefer a Pinot Noir or Chardonnay dominant blend).

Anne Gros’ son Paul, along with his sister Julie, is progressively assuming more and more responsibility for the day-to-day operations. Paul is now involved in the vinification of the wine. Paul has not changed the domaine’s style of pure, perfumed fruit forward wines but there seems to be a little more structure now as well.

We will be offering Paul Gros’ wines later in the year.

Allocating these wines will be a very difficult task – we will look at historical buyers, people placing balanced orders and those who have supported us throughout the campaign, so final confirmations won’t be immediate. However we encourage new buyers to make their requests as we try and please as many as possible with some of these delightful wines.

2023 Domaine Anne Gros

 I tasted with Paul Tollot-Gros who makes both the wines under his own Paul Gros label (not yet being marketed) and those of his mother. He has the ability and indeed desire to make the wines slightly differently, continuing the Anne Gros style for the wines under that label, while building a little more structure into his own. They began on 7th September and had to go quickly to beat the rain, which they did except for the Hautes Côtes de Nuits.

The authorities have been round with their measuring tapes and have decided that some vineyards previously thought to be Bourgogne should in fact be Coteaux Bourguignons, hence the label change in both red and white.

 Anne Gros was busy bottling her wines in Minervois when I visited the winery in Vosne-Romanée. So, her son, Paul, guided me through their portfolio augmented with cuvées from expired contracts belonging to Domaine Gros Frère & Soeur last year. These include not only Grands-Echézeaux, but also four wines now made under Paul’s own label.
